    Satellite broadband Features

    Posted In: Broadband by admin

The internet services provided by the ISPs over the satellite instead of a Dial-Up or a DSL connection is the satellite broadband. The necessity of a satellite based broadband connection rises when there is no connectivity to the telecommunication centre. This is the usual case in most of the rural areas despite many cable TV companies providing internet. In this particular method of broadband technology the internet feed is transmitted to a dish fitted at the endorser’s house.

This satellite broadband can deliver speeds up to 2MBps of download speed and 1MBps upload which is approximately 40 times greater than the conventional dialup connections which offer a mediocre speed that rarely crosses 53KBps. The satellite internet has been a poor choice due to the expensive rates and also the inevitable delay in data exchange from the satellite to our home via the provider and back makes online multi-player gaming impossible.

    ADSL2+

Posted In: Broadband, Networking by admin

If you are living in Downton or anywhere close to DSLAM signals, you will do best by initializing into ITU G.992.5 or ADSL2+. This process allows downstream speed of 24Mbit and upstream speed of 1.4 MB. This has doubled the previous accumulated speed of ASL2, and thus the name.

It does the doubling through change in frequency band of ADSL connection from 1.1 to 2.2 MHz. ADSL2+ also comes with a unique facility of port bonding. This indicates that if your ports are being attached with instruments of different download speed, your total accumulation of bandwidth would be the sum total of their respective speed along with 24 MBit. This is a classic invention; not thought of before; not lest implemented.

The only problem is that its download speed exponentially if placed too far from DSLAM signals. Thus, you should first have a look at your premise position before installing ADSL2+.

    3G technology in Mobile Broadband

    Posted In: Broadband by admin

Ever since the emergence of mobiles, there have been numerous attampts to make thw orld more accessible. Of course gaining Internet access on your personal mobie is a sound step towards that. Effectively, this process is termed 3G or Mobile Broadband.

There are two significant sytems compliant in mobile technolgy: GSM and CDMA. The latter is typically conversant with 3G, which it makes operational through EV-DO system. Here, your data memory status is differentited from your voice meory and the resultant space is used to create maximum bandwidth to surf the net.

General browsers used in Mobile broadband are IE and Opera. You will however, for aforesaid reason, not be able to surf while talking. You can easily get good enough download speed of 350-400 Kbps by just connecting an EV-DO card into the phone’s USB portal.

GSM works via HSDPA and claims download speed of 400-700 Kbps. However, it meets strong signal disturbances.

    Gas Coal Baskets

Posted In: Home Help by admin

A Gas Coal Basket is a small fire place where gas logs can be placed. They use less gas and provide ceramic coal instead of logs. And it brings a decorative look for historic homes or homes with a antique decor. Even though the decorative cast iron basket is not burning it looks great in your fire place. It consumes 50,000 to 100,000 BTUs of gas per hour because the burner is larger than our little coal burner.

In gas coal basket the coal actually glows as they are warmed. The flame pattern is less wide and the flame height is shorter. And it requires less gas to provide appealing effect. This basket has no grate in the bottom. The gas coal burner is attached to the floor of the fire place to secure it. A removable ash cover provides access to the burner controls via a remote control. By this you can bend over and move the ash cover.

    Multi Linking Modems

    Posted In: Networking by admin

Just as the name suggests these modems connect more than one device to enhance the internet browsing speed. On windows you can add up to two modems working simultaneously and that necessarily requires two telephone lines, two Dial-Up accounts and an ISP for the multi linking. It enables us to browse in two different windows at the same rate where one window’s bandwidth is supplied by a telephone line and the other window’s is routed through the second line.

However as a single download occurs through a single IP it isn’t affected at all by the presence of the second connection. The balance of load occurs automatically, the line with least load is used for a newer task. On the whole, they approximately double the browsing speed. This way of linking was used prior to the advent of faster connections like ISDN and DSL. Hence now-a-days this method isn’t in vogue.

    P2P File Sharing Systems

    Posted In: Networking by admin

P2P is nothing but peer-to-peer mode of sharing. It refers to any distributed network architecture. Peer-to-peer was made popular by file sharing systems like Napster. The peer-to-peer file sharing networks have inspired new structures for human interaction. Peer-to-peer networks are typically formed by ad-hoc addition nodes. In ad-hoc network the removal of nodes will not affect the network. The distributed architecture of an application in a peer-to-peer system provides scalability and robustness.

These systems often implement an application layer and overlay network on top of the physical network topology. In structured peer-to-peer networks the connections in the overlay are fixed, whereas in unstructured peer-to-peer networks they don’t provide any algorithms for organization of network connections. In pure peer-to-peer network there is only one routing layer as there are no preferred nodes. In centralized peer-to-peer systems a central server is used for indexing functions and to bootstrap the entire system.P2P networks are typically used for connecting nodes through ad-hoc connection.
